Australian Orienteering Championships Tasmania 2020

Travel Tips

St Helens is our Carnival Hub – We’re Taking Over Town!

St Helens is just 2 hours 20 minutes drive from Launceston.  But for ease with travel, our first event is in Launceston on Saturday morning (Starts from 10:30 am for Elites & Junior Elites)

Stay in St Helens from Saturday night – for all 8 nights –  to experience an orienteering community vibe.  Not too far away are Binnalong Bay and Steiglitz

Schools Teams from Australia will be accommodated in downtown St Helens at Tidal Waters Restort (we’ve fully booked this venue out!)

Big 4 St Helens Holiday Park is our preferred caravan park.  We’ve already booked out all self contained accommodation here (the two New Zealand Schools Teams will be staying here).  Details on how we’ll release this accommodation to others will be out soon.  But families wanting an “Invitational Camp” style experience for their children will be given priority

Big 4 St Helens Holiday Park is a perfect place to camp or park your van.  There is a huge communal kitchen, a games room, a large modern undercover kitchen area with a pizza oven and a fire pit.  There are plenty of powered sites & tent sites available.  All are welcome to stay here!

Longest drive to any event from St Helens will be no more than 1 hour 30 minutes

Last event is within one hour from Launceston

Bring your Car by Catching the Spirit of Tasmania from Melbourne to Devonport (followed by 1 hour 15 minutes drive to Launceston)

Fly in/out of Launceston if you are time pressed (including dawn flights Saturday morning)

Fly in/out of Hobart for a road trip (2 hours 20 minutes to Launceston & 3 hours 40 minutes to St Helens)

Rent a Car if you Fly (no public transport).  For 10% off – Book with AutoRent Hertz – they’ve been supporting us run major events for years, providing us with utility vehicles

Whatever your Plans – Book Early!
